MiBAP will begin by defining their advocacy purpose, process and accomplishments in the last year. As Michigan’s Behavioral Health Service delivery system is in the midst of structural change, the Panel will discuss different perspectives in the Behavioral Health Integration with the physical healthcare system. Any changes must ensure more and easier access to necessary ABA services for families and more streamline/ uniform administrative processes for the ABA providers. This panel discussion, with the legislative leaders championing the change, will summarize the legislative intent of the recent legislation advanced by the House of Representatives and Senate. The needs of the children with Autism and their families must be understood and prioritized as the changes are debated, re-considered and finalized. The panel will describe their position and emphasize the expected improvement in experience of the children with autism, their families and providers of ABA services in Michigan.
The panel will also participate in Q and A with the participants.
